#MartinLewis. Re balance transfer cards, it is a valid calculation to look at say 3.6% fee for 36 months to be c. equal to 1% p.a. and I can earn more by keeping the money in a savings account & therefore better doong balance tfr?
@UKLabour When are Labour going to stop lying?
Please provide the list of councils where this is the case?
I suppose you will say that Khan's increase in April 2024 of almost 10% calculates to making it "cheaper"
Last night I spent a shift with a @metpoliceuk ERPT team dealing with 999 calls. It is impossible to explain just how surreal an experience being out with these officers is, the officers are exposed to situations no one should see. Here are my notes from the opening two hours.
@ShellyAsquith@metpoliceuk Shame you don't show what happened in between.
Protesters breaking through police lines and breaking the agreed terms of the protest - they were determined to cause disturbance.
You have picked these photos to distort the argument.
@JohnCrookes7 Given the fact that the economy was GROWING (faster than any other in the G7) before the election proves that this is Labour's influence and fault. Inflation rising since the budget is down to Labour; it was falling prior to election. Interest rates were predicted to fall-not now
@jdtlgr@kelvmackenzie Maybe have a look at basic economics and think it through.
Higher costs to virtually all businesses = inflation will increase and interest rates will rise (or at least not fall as quickly as expected).
Less money in British people's pockets!
@SukiMackinder3 @Mar71b@MartinSLewis@rachelreeves@itvMLshow I think you're the only one is "disappointed in Martin".
I think I speak for the many who think he the best thing that has happened to consumer finance.
Prev Chancellors have appeared-and answered Martin's probing questions.
Martin's show is recognising as being THE Finance show.
@MartinSLewis@rachelreeves@itvMLshow The Liar of the Year (closely fought battle with @Keir_Starmer) was too scared.
Financial markets / future interest rate setters didn't seem too impressed with the budget.
@itvMLshow regarding reduction in price of draught beer. Given increase in NI for breweries/distribution & Min Wage for bar staff - really don't think I will see the 1p reduction on my pint!
@sbkhan01@CutMyTaxUK@RachelReevesMP No its not. Will lead to lower pay rises and/or less employment and increased inflation leading to increased interest rates = higher mortgages and rents.
@MoneySavingExp I always get concerned with the term cost of living 'crisis'. It is more a return to 'normal' after some good years.
I'm old enough (but not that old) to remember 15% inflation and interest rates (therefore mortgages) very high.
I recognise it's hard for many now - comparatively.
@CromerMarnie@wearewater Looks good!
We just missed the Pine Lake one a couple of weeks ago.
Few more hills in Cromer than Carnforth so I can see you all well deserved the ice creams!
@FreddyNight12 @kpearny @MoneySavingExp Such as? Sorry, not a digging question, but I thought lenders (mortgages etc) took great note of credit history built up by credit cards.
I have always advocated that my son got and used *sensibly* a credit card (following ML's advice) - and he has.
@fatfish59 @MoneySavingExp Agree totally with this; but we need to check what the Chancellor is going to do re tax relief of contributions and taxing pensions(NI?) in her autumn statement & budget.
Convinced a huge amount of the advantages of saving into pensions will be withdrawn (but still probably good)
