OAS is adjusted quarterly (January, April, July, October) based on CPI inflation, and every quarter this year has brought an increase: +0.3% (Jan-Mar), +0.1% (Apr-Jun), and +1.2% for the current July-September 2026 quarter — a 2.3% year-over-year increase overall.
Seniors 65-74 currently receive up to $743.05/month; those 75+ get up to $817.36, which still includes the permanent 10% boost for that age group introduced back in 2022 (under Trudeau, not Carney) and remains in place.
By law, OAS payments never decrease even if inflation falls — it's a one-way inflation-protection mechanism.
Carney's government has also recently announced a GST credit top-up specifically aimed at helping with grocery costs.
