A personal note: Dec. 27th was my last day at the Globe and Mail.

After a quarter century in newspapers and journalism, I’m leaving to try something different in 2025 - with details to come.

Reporting and column-writing have been my life, so this is a tough one. But it’s time to do and learn something new.

It’s been my honour to work for @globeandmail, my north star for news and context. The editors, reporters and columnists are incredibly hardworking and smart. And reading the Globe is absolutely necessary for any Canadian trying to understand business, housing, immigration, foreign interference, the arts, politics and the world (not a comprehensive list).

I am also forever grateful to have been regularly invited to appear on @CBCNews panels. With amazing hosts, producers and fellow panelists, they have kept me fully engaged in my city and Alberta politics, and attuned to issues in other parts of the country.

Long live Canadian mainstream media - I will always be a subscriber and a supporter.

@WBrettWilson I have a different view. First @ABDanielleSmith has admirably demonstrated she consults widely and makes decisions in the best interests of Alberta. Second, and as a candidate for president of @Alberta_UCP I have spoken to 5 different @takebackalberta groups across Alberta. They are engaged in our party and also want the best for Alberta. Those that hold memberships and register for our convention deserve to be heard. How else do we build unity behind our leader? No one should be demonized for gods sake.
