Pre-board is just Pre-Vis.. (which in itself of a funny name for conceptual design?)

Sometimes the board artist likes the exact angle so they use it as a rough layout. But they don’t have to.

Pre-board is just conceptual design with different spelling.
Layouts obviously come after boards.
Storyboarders often appreciate having a location design to work with.
