@Black_D_Gamer1 Have you even tried to search for "placeholders in game development"?
Or better: have you ever worked on a game? I do not think you did, otherwise the meaning and purpose of a placeholder would be clear to you and we would't be having this conversation.
@Black_D_Gamer1 I do not understand why you try so hard to publicly probe you don't know what you're talking about. A dictionary definition of a term strips the context, therefore lacks nuance. You'd be surprised on how many terms have different meanings than the original in different contexts
Reading the replies is painfully obvious that people really don’t have the slightest clue on how many, many, training data for AI models was “adquired”
For people using AI in commercial game development: I'd be interested in hearing the best arguments as to why you think people should pay for the resulting game instead of pirating it.
Concisely, if you pirated the inputs, why shouldn't they pirate the output?
@IndieGamesCafe@egebasoner Schooling is better when you actually know what you are talking about.
That kind of texture are placeholders. They are also used as an error texture for the exact same principle: to signal “this does not belong here”
"placeholders" that adheres to the final art style of the product instead of being something egregiously out of place so is clear was something meant to be replaced...
hum...
A number of people have raised questions or concerns to us about whether assets in our marketing and game use generative AI.
We have a dedicated team of over a dozen talented and experienced artists. With them, we looked into the assets in question and found that there were indeed some early versions of assets that made their way into the the prologue. This includes some in-game portraits and external marketing assets.
We are actively reviewing the assets in question. Human made versions will be released in an update dropping soon.
We own up to this oversight and apologize for any upset caused. Please be assured that the Early Access and full game will not include any assets generated by AI.
@KenneyNL@DJ_Link I stopped buying games on iOS when our Baldur's Gate copy stopped working because they ditched 32bit support and the company did not update the game, so is now useless.
@funnyToasty The screenshots explains the reasons of the reviewer in a perfectly clear way. You may or may not agree, but I believe the reasons are clear.
