A story like this is difficult to read.
A Saint Mary’s student recently reported sexual harassment by an Uber driver while returning to campus. Thankfully she was able to remove herself from the situation, but it’s a reminder of something many parents and students quietly worry about.
Transportation safety matters. Especially in college communities.
When we started building Rides2U, we weren’t trying to create another traditional rideshare app. We saw problems with the existing system years ago while driving ourselves and talking with thousands of riders and drivers.
Most rideshare platforms are built for instant, anonymous rides where neither the rider nor the driver knows anything about each other until the car shows up.
We chose a different path.
Rides2U is a reservation-based ride platform designed specifically for college towns and their surrounding communities. That changes a lot about how rides happen.
• Most rides are scheduled in advance, not random pickups
• Drivers are known and vetted local professionals
• Riders can see driver information before the trip
• Families can track trips and receive updates
• Our team provides centralized customer support behind every ride
• Many drivers build repeat riders and long-term relationships on the platform
Our goal has always been simple: create a transportation network parents can trust and drivers can build real businesses on.
We also believe the future of mobility in these communities will come from strong local operators supported by better technology and infrastructure. That’s why Rides2U is evolving into a platform that connects and supports transportation partners across the country.
When safety, accountability, and trust matter most, the model has to be different.
Incidents like this remind us why the work matters.
If you’re a driver, transportation operator, or community leader who believes we can build something better for riders and drivers alike, we would love to connect.

Thanksgiving Break is always one of the busiest travel windows of the year for college families, but November 28th to December 1st was something none of us expected.
A historic snowstorm rolled across the Midwest and slammed major airports with delays, diversions and long stretches of planes sitting on the tarmac with no place to deplane. While the airlines were working through gridlock, thousands of students were trying to get back to Notre Dame, Purdue, IU, Michigan, Ole Miss and beyond.
And our team showed up.
In just a few days, we handled 6,500+ messages, 669 calls, 730 unique conversations, and logged 28+ hours on the phone.
All while managing hundreds of rides and over 600 riders getting back to campus.
None of this was easy. But watching our team at @Rides2U communicate, adjust, and work together in real time reminded me why I’m so proud of what we’re building at Rides2U. When flights got delayed for hours, when students were stuck on the tarmac, when schedules fell apart, our focus never changed:
Get every student home safely. Don’t leave anyone behind. Ever.
Out of all the rides across all campuses, we received only two parent concerns, both tied directly to airline delays that pushed past our grace window. We responded with transparency, empathy, and the same guiding principle we use on every tough call:
If that stranded student was our own kid, what would we want someone to do?
That’s who we are.
We’re not traditional ride-share and we’re not black car. We’re a “tweener” service built on safety, communication and human decency, especially when things get messy. If someone is looking for a service that will leave a kid behind because it’s more convenient, then Rides2U probably isn’t the right fit.
But if you care about a team that will fight through snowstorms, chaos, and thousands of texts to make sure your student gets back safely, then that’s exactly what we’re here for.
Proud of our team. Proud of our drivers. Proud of the families who trusted us during one of the toughest travel weekends of the year.
Uber : $75 for a 115-mile, 2+ hour airport run. 😬
@Rides2U : $162.50… $243.75… even $406.25 for the same route. 💰🔥
One company keeps shrinking driver pay and acting like it’s “just how it is.”
We actually pay drivers what the trip is worth.
🚫 No surge roulette
🚫 No algorithm games
🚫 No crumbs
✅ Real money
✅ Real respect
✅ Real transparency
Drivers:
Would you rather burn 115 miles for $75…
or work with the company that pays you like your time matters? 🚗💵

Flight delays happen. Missed connections happen. Stress doesn’t have to.
📷📷 Most rideshare companies don’t track flights; if your student’s delayed, they cancel.
We do the opposite
We track, we adjust, and we make sure they still have a safe ride waiting, even if it’s 2am.
Because peace of mind shouldn’t depend on perfect timing - it should depend on people who care.

Rides2U didn’t start as a business idea
📷It started as a dad asking:
“How do I make sure my daughters get home safe?”
After years of canceled rides, surge pricing, and drivers who didn’t feel trustworthy; he built what wasn’t out there:
📷 A rideshare service that actually shows up
📷 Local drivers, background-checked
📷 Pre-scheduled rides with real accountability
📷Rides2U isn’t built on hype
It’s built on trust. And that’s why we show up, every time.
📷Serving college towns like South Bend, Ann Arbor, Bloomington more!
Because peace of mind should be part of the ride. Always.
