The best argument against the electoral college is that none of the contentious issues that we vote for representatives on can have their position premised on geography.
@smerjpoo@erikstrobl there is no single conservative belief that is not a path to destruction in the name of raw, unyielding ego. none. everything you believe is monstrous, and should be purged from all reasonable society.
fuck off.
I was given the impression by several extremely annoying Democrats that a major reason why we needed to vote for you was to keep Republicans out of power because they were, quote, "going to destroy Democracy."
Today, I am announcing that as president, I will create a bipartisan council of advisors to give feedback on policy and inform my administration.
Our democracy needs a healthy two-party system.
@anukasan1977 @jjo69420 I've run into a lot of wildly stupid people on this godforsaken site but most have at least a touch more self-awareness than you.
@AZantifascist @mushroomJenja@gaynarcan@GBBranstetter when you wield that rhetorical tool in absentia of *any other discussion or activity* it is inherently sus!
Its the same rhetorical mechanism as "well that police officer *thought* his life was in danger because xyz"
@AZantifascist @mushroomJenja@gaynarcan@GBBranstetter What if it was chess? What if it was curling? What if alien rock people want to compete in tae-kwon-do?What if what if what if what if what if what if what if what if what if what if. imagining situations that "seem plausible" is a rhetorical tool
@machineiv Also just...most people who voted voted for Hillary! The argument doesn't stand on its own face. This does nothing to persuade whichever 10,000 people didn't vote in Wisconsin or Ohio or wherever who probably didn't vote because they don't give a fuck at all.
Once again, if your counter argument to "why didn't Dem leadership do anything" is "something something civics" that is...not a good advertisement for the benefits of having them in power.
Okay so I've seen some discourse because of the "Jason" post about Actual Plays.
So, the thing about the "Matt Mercer Effect" is *not* that you can't be "as good at D&D" as professional actors.
Its that what they are doing isn't even really anything like playing D&D.
