To reduce the spread of #COVID19 in schools, ensure good ventilation by opening windows and doors when possible and safe, or providing adequate mechanical ventilation. Wear masks if unsure about ventilation, and encourage outdoor activities when feasible.

A study🧵 that will begin with a long list of caveats.
No increase in death in young people following mRNA vaccines compared to increased cardiac and all cause mortality following positive Covid test. https://t.co/vxfBn73WzZ
This week's #SneakyStriker award goes to Hoffman for his striker on #HB2545 limiting public health emergencies to just 7 days w/ 1 week extensions only after supermajority legislative approval https://t.co/GvZo39Ud02
🧵 Ive written SARS-CoV-2 is a “textbook virus”
• Textbook does NOT mean mild
• Textbook viruses kill people
• Textbook viruses harm long-term immunity
• Textbook viruses cause dizzying amounts of poorly understood debilitating problems
I explain w examples here!

So evidence for bivalent vaccines keeps getting stronger
Latest from Israel
Compared to vaccinated folks who had NOT gotten bivalent
Older folks who got the bivalent had
81% reduction in hospitalizations
86% reduction in deaths
Pretty stunning stuff

@mehdirhasan and finally (outside of that review),
HIGHLIGHT 4:
the WaPo article links to data but they are late to the knowledge: suicide rates have not increased in the pediatric population during the pandemic.
https://t.co/oynWCT3OvE
@mehdirhasan HIGHLIGHT 3:
In the dataset itself, we can create a model for "mode of instruction for school" and I was able to demonstrate that being *in person* was associated with a 1.5x likelihood of being sad, vs being remote.
/3
@mehdirhasan HIGHLIGHT 2:
I did factor analysis to see which of the survey's associations were most strongly linked to sadness, and I found that by far the most significant were:
abuse in the home
being female
being LGBQ+
sleeping poorly
and enduring racial mistreatment
/2
@mehdirhasan HIGHLIGHT 1:
The sadness item tilted up in 2017 and increased sharply in 2019 too, and 2021 continued that trend. Certainly a record.
The other statistics (suicide thinking, plans, and attempts) are well within the previous years of the survey.

@mehdirhasan Thanks! I did a deep dive in these statistics (they have been available since February 2022), in what I still believe is Twitter's first ever scientific publication :)

Unvaccinated women who got COVID-19 during pregnancy were at higher risk of stillbirth.
Pharmaceutical companies & gov't excluded pregnant people from vaccine trials. At the same time, people spread false info about the vaccine's safety in pregnancy.

⚠️Scoop—MOTHER OF GOD—Just got this leak from CDC-insider source—it seems #COVID variants worse than CDC has been admitting. The new highly evasive #BQ1 & #BQ11 sub variants are surging over 11%—but CDC has not shared it yet! Here is what will be posted soon (left) 🆚 current. 🧵
