The Ginger Patriot

I play the piano by ear and program computers. Ex FCA, merchant banker and business owner. Read physics at Imperial. Sometimes on GBN.

I downloaded Handel from iTunes but they tell me he’s Elvis.

Even indoors the light at max eclipse looks good.

I feed the blue hydrangeas with coffee grounds from my cafetière. They seem to like the acidity and turn the most amazing shades of blue.

Today I am in Shrewsbury to have my car serviced. Whilst waiting I discovered these glorious municipal gardens which I thought were a thing of the past.

I am genuinely saddened to learn she has just died.

I have just found out that Bonnie Tyler is in hospital in Faro and although she has been seriously unwell she is expected to make a full recovery. Everything crossed for her; here's a tribute:

After rescuing a kestrel the other day (see video below) today’s rescue bird is a woodpecker.

The roses climbing over the pergola. A good show this year.

Confession: I ‘lifted’ one of these plants from a churchyard and it has since spread massively. I have been told it is known colloquially as ‘fox and cubs’. It has a pretty orange flower, likes poor quality soil and requires ZERO maintenance.

I just heard a noise from inside the wood burner, opened up and found this young kestrel. Safely released unharmed (note the thick gloves).

I drove back from Derbyshire yesterday and played Dusty in the car all the way home. Not one song that isn't superb.

Remember this one?

I’m in Hartington in Derbyshire. Outside the place I usually have tea and a scone when I’m here there is much merriment 😃.

The rhododendrons at Cragside are amazing, as is the house. I have driven up to Northumberland just to see them.

I’ve been caught… playing the piano in a NT property.

The song is In My Life.

[The Ginger Patriot @Right_You_R]

Everybody's Changing.

It's the only song I know by a group called Keane. On the radio this morning.

[The Ginger Patriot @Right_You_R]

Changes.

My instinct tells me there are quite a few coming shortly.

A farmer friend (who I have helped with legal and tax matters) has just delivered a load of logs in his tractor AND piled them in my wood store. Another has given me stone from which I have had a long stone wall built. Another gives me eggs. Farmers are the very best of friends.

Bringing On Back The Good Times.

If I remember correctly this was the follow up hit single after Everlasting Love by the Love Affair. Maybe 1969.
