Dates of disrespect from @scotgov@HumzaYousaf & @MathesonMichael - 18 April 23 promise of £12 for #socialcare staff made. 1st April 24 when they start to get their pay award. I’m not seeing nurses, junior doctors, dentists having to wait one year! Not fair, & not respectful
After considered reflection & analysis the positive gloss of the announcement of £12 an hour to #socialcare frontline staff has evaporated. Why @HumzaYousaf and @MathesonMichael should #socialcare staff wait till next April for a devalued pay increase? Second class again?
@brawday But when @HumzaYousaf and @MareeToddMSP were asked to step into fund Care Homes so carers could be paid a minimum £12/hr by @scottishcare the silence was deafening. Care homes are closing due to lack of funding. So if you want to make a political point look inward @BobDorisSNP
@hegeit@scottishcare Hope we can agree which side @COSLA is on. Claiming Care Homes accepted offer because it was a good one is disingenuous. It was to avoid being squeezed to accept lower rates with local negotiations. @HumzaYousaf knows all this from his time as Health Minister. @theSNP
@Justacarehomeg1 CI focus on the look. And forget that a messy, noisy, laughter filled HOME is much better (fit) than a modern bland smart looking home. In the home I'm in we've spent more money on painting over our 'gaudy' colours (despite taking the lead from Stirling Dementia) than activities
@elon_letmeout @saralivadeas Agency costs due to lack of nurses/care staff is a big factor in care homes. Especially in more rural areas where the NHS hoover up all the staff on better wages and T&Cs. But a fair rate & lack of referrals is a bigger factor because agency costs could be met with these 2 sorted
Govt funds NHS. Council funds Social Care. Low on funds-councils leave ppl in hospital. Plenty of empty beds in Glasgow Care Homes - some closing due to lack of occupancy. Not to mention councils pay their own homes much more than 3rd/private sector. @HMcArdleHT@scottishcare
@HumzaYousaf "As First Minister, I'm thinking about 'well, if we can have this level of care and quality of care here, why can't we have it across the country?"
Because GCC pay themselves far more than any other care homes they procure beds from that are not council run. But you know this.
Jeez. GB news just crept past me with 535,000 followers. If you think more should be watching my own films & reports RT & follow & no comments about bias please. It’s not my fault this Government is an absolute piece of crap. Let’s make sure the public get all the facts
The Minister for disabled people, quite literally a c*nt who made a video threatening disabled people just for claiming the pittance they are entitled to.
RT if this guy is SCUM.
@PhoenixSpecRisk@DrDMacaskill Not a chance.
The rate paid per resident is about £750 per week. GCC pay themselves more than £1300 per week in their own homes. For the same care.
That has the knock on effect of not being able to recruit/retain staff on competitive wages.
Many more will close.
@IVANCORNFORD@Neilsocialist In Glasgow the cost of LA residential care is 50% more than private nursing care.
Also look at how much they paid to build their care homes compared to the private sector. No bank would have financed them. They only work because of deficit funding.
