Thanks for making farmland affordable for RI’s farmers, @RhodeIslandDEM! Unfortunately there’s no $$ in the 2023 bond for farmland protection. @RILandTrusts & @RIFoodCouncil are asking that $3MM is added to @GovDanMcKee’s budget ASAP! 1/2

We've been advocating for Senate Bill SB2400 -- which safeguards conservation easements. It passed unanimously in the Senate & we expect favorable results in the House soon!

Bond funding for land protection is one of the most valuable conservation tools in RI. The proposed bond doesn’t have enough $ for open space, and NO funds for farmland.
