Yeah these movies don’t really utilize Peter’s sense of humor as much as they could, but these movies (at least I think) capture the inherent comedy of the books with more situational gags.

@FanAkko I love the Raimi trilogy (I rewatch the Raimi movies every few months) but a lot of Raimi fans are very annoying about Spider-Man movies

I typically try to avoid saying "___ is the best!" because that tends to offend people or make them think that I'm disregarding their opinion. I will also never say "You only like ___ because of nostalgia!" because that IS disregarding people's opinion.

Playing the nostalgia card basically says that all media has an expiration date, which a weird dismissive way to treat art. Do we love Van Gogh's "Starry Night" because of nostalgia? Is the Mona Lisa only revered because we loved it so much as kids? No, quality art ENDURES. Quality art SETS THE STANDARD for others to study and follow.

I think what's so frustrating when discussing Spider-Man 2 is that it's genuinely a great film, but it's existence has poisoned the way people talk about the character. Now everyone thinks that Peter Parker has to suffer 24/7 in order for the story to be considered good.

All the stuff with Sandman is really good. The score is fantastic. Rosemary Harris steals the show as usual. MJ is allowed to be a flawed, three dimensional character who gets the most to do in this one. The score is fantastic as always. It's a good movie

I think people really overstate the issues with Spider-Man 3 and ignore the things that make it special. It's hilarious but at least 90% is intentional. I like the idea of the symbiote externalizing Peter's misogyny. The action choreography still mogs 99% of the superhero genre
