This a core point of stoicism.

Lots of things happen to us that we have no say in.

One idea is to separate what is in your power from what isn't. The decisions other people made, and the situations they create that are forced onto you, are completely outside your control.

If you let it consume you, it will... but recognizing that we cant control the cards we are dealt any more than we can control other people is important.

It helps us realize that these external things out of our control affect us only if we let it. Focus on what is in your own control, how you live your life, how you react, whether you give those external players the time and energy to let them affect you.

You can still win a game of poker with a bad hand.
