I think the most painful part about fighting for change is watching people you genuinely believed were part of the movement slowly water it down, shake hands with murderers, laugh with them, sit comfortably around the very oppressors they once condemned, then come back with all sorts of explanations and excuses for why they were there, why it was necessary and why we shouldn’t read too much into it. And you’re left wondering, was any of this ever real, or were some of these people simply well calculated psyops from the very beginning?

And then you find yourself asking an even harder question, are the lives we lost not personal to you? Because for some of us, they are. We remember the young people who lost their lives fighting for a better country, the families that had to bury their children, the blood that was spilled, and maybe that’s why it’s so difficult to understand how someone who stood beside you through all of that can suddenly sit comfortably, laugh and shake hands with the very people we were fighting against 🥹

And somewhere along the way, you begin to understand why people like Patrice Lumumba, Dedan Kimathi, Thomas Sankara and so many other African heroes were killed so brutally. It wasn’t always because they didn’t have people around them. Many did. The problem was that some of the very people they believed they were fighting alongside had already sold out long before the fight was over.

Perhaps that is one of the hardest truths about fighting for change, eventually you realise that people really do have a price. Politics is indeed a dirty game, and I have a feeling 2027 will expose even more about people’s character.

But I really hope the few who genuinely believe in change don’t give up. Is it easy? Absolutely not. But I believe there is something deeply fulfilling about knowing that even if you died today, you never sold out, never shook hands with murderers and never became comfortable with people who have blood on their hands simply because they offered you money, access or power. Does that make you a hero? Absolutely not. It simply means you remained honest about what you stood for.

And eventually, when money no longer matters, when power no longer matters and when all the noise has died down, I think being able to live with yourself knowing you never betrayed what you believed in is what will matter most.

The law is the law. It does not matter for how long the law has been violated. Article 138(1) & (2) of the Constitution, on the Procedure at presidential election, categorically provides:
(1) If only one candidate for President is nominated, that candidate shall be declared elected.
(2) If two or more candidates for President are nominated, an election shall be held in each constituency.
Voting at elections is conducted as provided under Article 86, which provides:

86. At every election, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries
Commission shall ensure that-

(a) whatever voting method is used, the system is simple, accurate, verifiable, secure, accountable and transparent;

(b) the votes cast are counted, tabulated and the results announced promptly by the presiding officer at each polling station;

(c) the results from the polling stations are openly and accurately collated and promptly announced by the returning officer; and (d) appropriate structures and mechanisms to eliminate electoral malpractice are put in place, including the safekeeping of election materials.

From the law above, there is no way the results for the Presidential elections cannot be announced at the Constituency as required by the Constitution. #ReKe #GetitDone #KnowYourConstitution

There is no shortage of issues regarding FIFA. Let me start by clarifying what some of these are from an FA perspective, in particular that of Jordan going into a World Cup for the first time.
We are a small country with a minimal budget for our FA and had to deal with enormous hurdles. First, getting our fans into the USA: not all were granted VISAS, even though they had tickets -which we also know were sold at exorbitant prices. Secondly, we are being taxed by the US govt through FIFA for our participation. Money that should go to players and staff. This was not the case for those who played and set up camp in Canada and Mexico. But we happened to be in the USA so now we face these huge costs in taxes for having participated.
Thirdly we have been waiting for reward money for our players since December for the Arab cup in Qatar, which is a FIFA event. The money our team should receive for having reached the final has not been delivered yet, while at the same time FIFA brags about how many billions they have in reserve.
It is clear the problem really is with leadership. For months, FIFA has been refusing to help us on any of these or other matters- until it was verbally communicated to me during the World Cup that if I endorsed Infantino it would go a long way to helping our FA out.
We pride ourselves in Jordan in upholding ethical values. We did not endorse him before and certainly will not now. But the whole situation amounts to blackmail and we refuse to give in to that.

Kenyan politics is taking shape towards 2027 and from the look of things, hamjipangi, mnapangwa kweli kweli.

The establishment is very afraid of three people. Maraga, Sifuna and Okiya and when plans are being made, they are trying as much as possible to manage the situation so that power does not leave the table of the Old Guards. They are reassembling and not for the best but to ensure what happens is not a system change but system maintenance.

They are pushing really hard to manage the outcome. It is not just a Kasongo issue. The entire system is working round the clock to keep things as they always are. Recycling the same faces that are part of the problem and have always been.

If we are serious about change, we have to be very intentional about that change or else we will have a very rough time.

This is partly true, but not entirely. Irungu Kang'ata and Wamatangi have been building and equipping hospitals as governors in Murang'a and Kiambu counties. In Luo Nyanza, we keep cheering Orengo and Wanga for politicking, useless activism and bravado, and abusing abusing each other 24/7. Ten years from now, Kiambu and Murang'a will have better schools, markets, roads and hospitals, then we say it's because of Kikuyu privilege. How many rallies have Orengo attended in 2026 compared to Wamatangi?
Secondly, we used to say Ndindi Nyoro used his position as the chair of budget committee in parliament to unfairly develop Kiharu. Nearly two years later since he was replaced with Atandi, name any meaningful development Atandi has done in Alego Usongo apart from hiring goons, looking down upon residents, and moving from one brothel to another with women with loose morals.
