“All empty souls tend toward extreme opinions.”
- W.B. Yeats
W. B. Yeats was one of Ireland’s most renowned poets and literary figures. Born in 1865, he played an important role in both Irish literature and the Celtic Revival. Much of his writing explored enduring themes such as love, aging, Irish culture, mythology, and the passing of time.
Among Yeats’s most famous poems are The Second Coming, When You Are Old, and Easter, 1916. In 1923, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature in recognition of his influential literary achievements. His work left a lasting mark on modern poetry, establishing him as one of the defining writers of the 20th century.
