30 years ago, I first learnt what the word genocide meant when my mother explained to me what was happening in Rwanda, and then Bosnia and Herzegovina. I never forgot that explanation. Today we are explaining the same to our children to help them understand what is happening in Gaza. May the blessings of Eid bring relief to the people of Gaza, and empathy geared towards action on their behalf from the rest of the world. May the perpetrators of this genocide face justice.
