Google Maps is great, but traveling or living abroad has a catch: you save places, but they’re still hard to find later. Shops show in local languages, and you can’t remember their original names. The more lists you have, the harder it gets. So I save my key spots to Pinly.

A little peace of heaven at Akumal Bay 🌊🐢 If you’re staying around Playa del Carmen, this beautiful turtle bay is just a 30-minute drive away. It’s one of my favorite spots, and I wanted to share a quick, helpful guide for your visit.

🛶 A sweet extra option: For an extra 200 pesos, you can take a short 15-minute boat ride out to see the colorful fish reef first, before heading over to see the turtles. Our guide was a sweet, gentle local girl who took such wonderful care of us.

✨ Two ways to explore: • $9 USD for basic entrance. You can swim and enjoy the day freely in the green area • Around 700 pesos if you’d like a guided tour. This includes your entrance fee and allows you to enter the protected red area where the sea turtles love to rest.
