Finding pleasure in the materials and interest in the shapes. Built to Passive House standards, our Catskill Residence provides a beautiful and comfortable respite for a busy family.
Adding a new wing to an existing log cabin at our House On The Pond project allowed us to meet #PassiveHouse Standards. It also gave us the perfect nook for an intimate patio space for gatherings with friends and family.
Watch this space for news about our carbon neutral-ready project; a $2.5m renovation/repurposing of an 1882 bank in upstate, NY. The long vacant building will add nine high-quality residential units, ground-level commercial space, basement-level storage, and off-street parking.
Built to #PassiveHouse standards and completed in 2020, @RiverArch's Seminary Hill Cidery in #Callicoon, NY, overlooks a 62-acre orchard & celebrates the history of the Catskills region with its use of local materials and traditional form. Learn more here: https://t.co/AdheTLpfws

Happy Halloween from our all of us in our cozy retrofit #passivehouse studio! And thanks to everyone who visited during our open house on Saturday - it was so much fun to see everyone in their Halloween best!
The biggest event of the year is happening tomorrow in Cold Spring! Join us right across Main street at our @phius#passivehouse certified studio starting from 4:00 pm for pre-parade refreshments. Can't wait to see you there!
One of the highlights of our Rockquist Minor #passivehouse project is the view of the Hudson River Valley, captured through high-performance windows and doors from @YAROWindowsDoor. Eliminating vertical muntins on all windows and doors enabled us to achieve PHIUS+ 2015 standards.
James Hartford participates in PhiusCon: "What is the youth perspective on the climate crisis and how #PassiveHouse is a solution? What are tangible ways youth can affect real change? How are youth already leveraging building science to create healthy and resilient buildings?"
RA provided architectural design services, building and systems efficiency strategies, and LEED certification administration in the 2014 construction of one of our favorite Hudson Valley destinations, Catskill Brewery. The project was awarded LEED Gold (v2.2) in 2017.
RA designed this prototype accessory dwelling unit, testing ideas of prefabrication, panelization, low-impact foundations using helical piles, elimination of concrete, and compact heat pump technology to meet the conditioning needs of a small, energy-efficient building.
