🚨 NEW: Before Todd Boehly bought Chelsea, Sir Jim Ratcliffe made a last-minute attempt to hijack the deal.

Ratcliffe called Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck and requested an urgent meeting.

During the meeting, he kept "knocking on his chest" and claiming to have a written offer in his pocket, a scene that contradicts other official offers contained in 140 pages of documents.

He confirmed that his bid was entirely funded by British sources, but Pack told him that they had already chosen a preferred party.

However, Ratcliffe met with Rain later that same morning and made a formal offer of £4.25 billion, matching other bids.

But his late intervention upset the rest of the competitors, and as Buck had warned him, it came too late. The Boyle-Clearlake alliance was confirmed as the winner of the deal.
