Folks; Not making a judgement and no doubt folks involved intentions were pure BUT…as a retired Fire/Rescue High Angle/Technical Rescue person there’s a risk of accidents responding, performing the “rescue”, tying up of resources that may be needed elsewhere resulting in a delayed response when seconds/minutes count, possibly of motor vehicle accidents during the response that result in injuries and property damage, etc. In other words try and realize you’re not the center of the universe and your actions/behavior may have unintentional, negative, consequences on others.
Don’t!!! All who did regret it. All who persevered, as hard as it was, survive and thrive. Be a survivor and not a victim. You’ll save many, many others who are in your shoes as having gone through it and surviving you’ll have credibility with those going through it no degree from any university can match. That and you’re loved, treasured and worth it! Hang in there and this shall pass.
To all my working class extended family regardless of race, creed, age, political affiliation, etc. (As stated Workers). Rate First, Second, Third, etc., choice.
@elonmusk @mikerowe @joerogan I’m not interested in views, “likes”, followers or whatever they’re called. Just think those “elected” should know what our fellow countrymen think regardless of any affiliations as I have the honor and privilege of knowing many diverse folks and most agree these are needed and necessary as we’ve all been played by many from both parties, etc., We’re busy working and raising families with the goal that the next generation does better than we did and don’t live in our parents basement nor have time to be keyboard warriors. Just like what our parents did for us. Asking for a friend or two and frankly tired of status quo. If your busy schedules permit and interested please amplify the query.
Dumbest guy in the room so just asking…If the Lebanese Government and citizens have indicated by word and deed they wish Hezbollah to leave why not have Israel’s military operate under joint, coordinated ventures with the Lebanese Military to execute same. (Even some Imans have advocated for same) Every, single, “collateral damage victim” be they Christian, Muslim, etc., creates the possibility/probability of future combatants, regardless of religious/secular affiliation as their family and friends, homes, businesses, churches, mosques, synagogues, etc., were destroyed by “surgical” strikes.
Sad but honest and respectful reality check from old dude here. For those not aware there is an Education/Industrial Complex for lack of a better term. When a candidate for a position has difficulty in articulating what their degree is in and/or it is of limited scope, by definition there are very limited, if any, positions available for said graduate. Today one can “make up” their degree, not have any “hard” science, math, literature, etc., courses and only need “buy” credits, make up their degree, with their educational value to employers being minimal at best. Graduates have become victims of algorithms (so no one need make a decision) whereby “IF” one doesn’t get the position of their dreams after getting a Bachelor’s degree their “University” convinces them they then need a Masters. Most, (if not all), “HR Algorithms” drop them from “next steps/consideration” once they have a Masters for employment if they have limited/no experience and are declared “over qualified” for entry level positions which is how one acquires experience. (The infamous Catch 22). Since it appears reading comprehension and critical thinking are not taught or required at universities to achieve a Bachelor’s, Masters, etc, one with “specialized/boutique” degrees may suffer from simple supply v demand realities as there are limited if any careers needing their degree/area of concentration and “may” be somewhat “untrainable” as independent study, reading comprehension and critical thinking skills are needed for training and they had limited, if any, hard science, math, literature, etc., courses. It is so sad that a young couple trying to start a life together is well into 6 figures of debt for degrees that offer little if any chances for a “return on investment” of the students’ time, talent and treasure from universities with hundreds of millions of dollars in endowments.
“Higher Education” owes them much more. (Not unlike how our primary and secondary education system owes our graduates the ability to be able to at least read, write and perform mathematics at a minimum prior to providing them a diploma to give it any value. How are we doing a service to our young men and women when they graduate high school and are illiterate?)
Just putting this out there as the “Dumbest Guy in the Room” BUT…how are we doing a service to our young ladies and men by providing them a High School Diploma when they can’t
Read? For the sake of argument (aka discussion), Let’s forgo the other 2 “R’s” as in wRiting and aRithmetic. In my life experience for what it’s worth I don’t remember nor does history provide a single example of where lowering standards benefits anyone. We’re certainly paying for it and of course I and all I know have no issue with doing so on behalf of our future generations BUT please school me on such example.
@PNWConservative Dumbest guy in the room BUT when has lowering standards ever benefited anyone AND what service are we doing our young ladies and men by providing them a High School Diploma when they are unable to “Perform the 3 R’s” ESPECIALLY being able to Read?
The sad reality that most aren’t aware of is that we could not have a Chernobyl like event in the US as we use Pressure Water Reactors and Boiling Water Reactors with a different fuel source, additional containment, etc., etc., etc., as opposed to the Graphite Light Water Reactor involved in the Chernobyl event. The solution as to what to do with the waste from US reactors has been identified and promoted by the National Academy of Sciences since 1959. That being depositing same in deep geologically stable salt formations. Newer designed pebble bed reactors the size of a shipping container could produce the same energy as some of the largest nuclear reactors of the 1960’s/1970’s. We do need to participate in intelligent dialogue and active listening as the “plume” from the “cooling towers” is simply water vapor and not radioactive. The cognitive dissonance must be recognized, owned and stopped towards the betterment of all.
Not sure how one can determine definitively “in other words not a gift” from something that occurred > 100 years ago BUT regardless if items were requested back by the various indigenous leaders so be it. To “journalists” please live up to self-proclaimed “code of ethics”. (https://t.co/DjqSrONASu) Since your and Canadian governmental claims about “hundreds/thousands” of indigenous, children being buried under parochial schools/churches/convents, etc., in the previous centuries for as of yet forensically there have been no findings of a single grave let alone mass grave yet it has resulted in > 100 Churches being burned down or severely vandalized in Canada. All need to know that God knows what did or didn’t happen and there’s a special place in hell for all who committed or lied about same. (Of course we still accept God’s Mercy for all but I have a very finite understanding of an infinite wisdom.)
Let me fix my obvious typo related to 1500 years…(former touch typist who fat thumbed the above) There were 33 Popes prior to Constantine and it was understood and unchallenged by those who were eye witnesses to Jesus during his time on earth until about 1500 years later. Our bishops have apostolic succession as well. Please enjoy your time in Israel and pray for us and we’ll pray for your safe return.
My Beautiful, Wonderful, Example of Faith and Sister in Christ. For about 382 years before the written bible it was understood, before about 1500 years there were 33 Popes (How about that the same years our Savior was on earth) there was Papal succession before Constantine, there were more Popes and many, many, more before Luther. Having said that Pope St. John Paul II the Great confirmed "In my Father's house are many rooms" With all due respect, Love and Christian fraternity/sorority. (You’re a great example for all of us) I “respectfully” disagree but me and mine hold you in high esteem.
