The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia registers Cambodiaโs strong protest against the actions undertaken by the Thai armed forces that alter the security environment in or around civilian areas, consolidate military control, or create new facts on the ground, thereby directly undermining de-escalation efforts and hindering the safe and dignified return of civilians to their homes and properties.
This includes laying barbed wire in the area of Thmor Da International Point of Entry of Pursat Province of Cambodia on 16 January 2026. Such actions raise serious concerns over Cambodiaโs sovereignty and territorial integrity and are inconsistent with the de-escalation measure set out in Item I of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) of 27 December 2025.
Cambodia calls on Thailand to fully and in good faith implement all the provisions of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special GBC Meeting of 27 December 2025, and relevant agreements. Cambodia reaffirms its commitment to resolving border and boundary issues with Thailand peacefully, in accordance with international law and existing bilateral agreements while firmly upholding the principle that borders must not be altered
Cambodiaโs Preah Vihear Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Khmer cultural heritage, is reported to have been destroyed by Thai military aggression. The temple, which has long been at the center of border tensions, represents an irreplaceable loss to Cambodiaโs history, identity, and world heritage.

Today, the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia provided aid to 541 Cambodian families displaced by Thai airstrikes, artillery and shooting. These families represent a few of the approximately 700,000 displaced people in Cambodia.
Cambodian Ministry of National Defence reported a series of Thai military attacks on Cambodian territory on Wednesday (Dec. 24), involving artillery shelling and fighter jet airstrikes in multiple provinces.
According to the ministry, at 10:28 a.m., Thai forces fired 26 artillery shells into Sampov Laun Commune, Sampov Laun district, Battambang province, damaging Chan Deang Pagoda.
At 11:00 a.m., Thai fighter jets dropped four bombs in Srei Snam district, Siem Reap province.
From 12:15 p.m. to 12:26 p.m., Thai forces deployed T-50TH fighter jets to drop cluster bombs in Slor Kram commune, Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province.
Later, at 2:02 p.m., a Thai T-50TH fighter jet dropped one bomb in Banan district, Battambang province.
The brutal actions above are indiscriminate attacks by the Thai military, a serious violation of international law.
Cambodian forces continue to retaliate fiercely and monitor the situation closely and remain highly vigilant.
Small children were separated from their parents.โ Young schoolchildren fled from their schools. Elderly people abandoned their homes, workplaces, and shops. These were among the most horrifying and heart-wrenching scenes experienced by Cambodian civilians, following an act of aggression in which the Thai Royal Air Force launched deep-penetration attacks reaching Battambang Province on 24 December 2025. #Thailandviolateinternationallaw
WATCH: My crew and I were filming near Cambodia-Thai border when we heard sounds of a โdropped bombโ according to a Cambodian local authority followed by sounds of engines in the sky

Thai influencer Manassatian Luprasert published a manipulated image depicting President Donald J. Trump being violently drop-kicked in the face by a Thai soldier. The post received over 122,000 positive reactions.
This is not humor or satire. It is the promotion of political violence against a sitting U.S. president.
The United States and Thailand trade approximately $88 billion annually and maintain long-standing security and defense cooperation. Publicly glorifying violence against the leader of a strategic partner is reckless and damaging to bilateral relations.
This does not represent all Thai people, but it does reflect a serious failure to condemn extremist content from influential voices.
Given the nature of the image and the scale of engagement, the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Secret Service should review and investigate this matter to determine whether it constitutes a threat, incitement, or coordinated disinformation targeting the President of the United States.
Silence sends the wrong message.
Political violence must be rejected.
Allies must hold influencers accountable.
Respect between nations matters.

It is truly heartbreaking when we see the precious heritage of ancient Hindu Khmer temple is destroyed by Thailand. This sacred heritage belong to all humanity. Thailand think that it is not belong to them. I reached temple a year ago. Visit my video. https://t.co/t0jOfmZECu
