Would love to see a mural dedicated to this @SSFCRABBITOHS legend in the area. For local kids to see someone from the local area to look up to; it’s what dreams are made of!!
Nath had an amazing gift of finding the line 🙌🏽

1919 - Dally Messenger and his wife, Annie, fell ill with pneumatic influenza in June 1919 while managing the Royal Hotel in Manilla, NSW. Unfortunately, a few days later - and a day after her son Pte Cyril McAuley returned to Manilla from WW1 - Annie died from the disease.
1919 - Souths vs Easts - "Many Cripples Play". As the flu epidemic raged, a game which saw Wally Messenger and Howard Hallett sit out with influenza was won by Easts 16-8. Hall of Famer, Les Cubbit played injured and would have been shot "if he had been a racehorse".
It's 3.10pm on September 17, 2021.
That makes it 100 years exactly since the first-ever women's rugby league game kicked off.
30,000 people showed up at the Showgrounds in Moore Park and Maggie Moloney, a 15-year-old Irish girl from Redfern, was the star, scoring 4 tries.
1921 - One hundred years ago, "Wilcha" penned this touching toast to rugby league. Wherever you are this lockdown Sunday, raise your Reschs to the beautiful game. @NRL@NSWRL#rugbyleague
The infamous resting place of St George's former home ground - Earl Park - built on the property of owner Lancelot Lewis Earl. This photo was taken in '43 with Arncliffe station to the bottom right. After Earl's death in 1940, the property was sold to a confectionery company.
1934 - St George, "The Illawarra team", played a game that "must be ranked as one of the finest performances" when they crushed Souths "into insignificance" at a wet Earl Park 31-8.

1953 - Anthony Hordens' - once the biggest department store in Sydney featured a real-life Clive Churchill. You could find Clive in Sporting Goods and have a yarn about footy. He could have even signed and sold you a ball (bladder included!) @SSFCRABBITOHS@NSWRL#rugbyleague
Remember when Nathan Merritt was a Jet?
In 2005, Merritt scored an amazing 40 points during our 64-8 win over the St Mary’s Penrith Cougars.
Merritt ultimately scored 282 points during his lone season with the Jets and was our Players’ Player in 2005.
