Despite Doug Ford’s scandals, cuts to public services, and corporate handouts, he keeps winning.
What’s his secret?
Ahead of the next Ontario election, @DesmondCole breaks down the formula to @fordnation’s success.
"Imagine a $510 million annual cut to health care or education." New analysis by @Randyfrobinson estimates the cost to provincial coffers as Ontario moves to the Quebec model of retailing #alcohol. It's expensive. @LCBO https://t.co/X1P6s73DoD #onhealth#onted#onpoli
From day 1 these workers showed up with a plan for convenience that wouldn’t jeopardize our public services, & what did @fordnation say? Hell no.
When you wake up to a picket line in your community, remember: #LCBO workers are fighting for the future of Ontario. Come join us!
“Workers are the thunder, workers are the lightning, and my friends, we are bringing the storm!” OPSEU/SEFPO President @JPHornick rallying with the @OFLabour movement in front of the @OntarioPCParty convention. #EnoughisEnough
“I want to talk about power and winning. Taking power away from the employer and giving it to the workers.” Organizer, negotiator, author and scholar Jane McAlevey is today’s keynote speaker at the College Faculty Pre-Bargaining Conference! #organizingForPower#onlab
.@JPHornick speaks @Broadbent Institute Gala about the role of art in working people’s lives: “Like art, solidarity and resistance are acts of creation…that transcend our individual selves. They’re collective actions to create a better, more beautiful world for all of us.” 1/2
"Rather than address the root causes of exploitation, the criminalization of sw encourages overregulation via criminal, immigration & other laws. This isolates workers, maintains precarious working conditions, & excludes application of labour protections." @MWACCanada @initialvw
.@OPSEU delegates to #NUPGE2022 rally in support of LSPU L1953 at the @OfficialOceanex docks, St. John’s. Members of the longshore union have been working without a contract for 2.5 years and earn much less than others performing the same job in other provinces. #nlpoli#canlab
Thank you for placing your trust in me to be @OPSEU President! I know that together we can build a bigger & more inclusive tent that engages all members and renews our union. https://t.co/jiiNMgIJnK #itstartswithus
*CAAT-A BARGAINING ANNOUNCEMENT*
The parties have reached an agreement to enter binding interest arbitration and the strike that was scheduled to commence at 12:01 am on March 18, 2022, is called off.
This also concludes all work-to-rule strike activities.
Arbitration is pretty much never a union's first choice, but we want to resolve this for all of us. Arbitration isn't a win for the union. It isn't a win for the presidents. It's a win for students. #SaveOurSemester https://t.co/5PhmtMMJzr
This fight has always been about making the student experience and the education system a better one. The college's refusal to negotiate or arbitrate is a clear indication that they don't care about students. #Bargaining4Better https://t.co/rN1Vvewyn7
