Competitive Shooting

Defense starts on nail, offense on elbow. Offense takes off, defense has to touch the elbow before they can closeout.

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

More plays don't automatically create better offense.

Teach your players concepts, not just memorizing plays.

Foot Switch Finishing

Offense and defense starts on elbow, offense starts with inside foot forward. Once offense switches their feet it's live downhill!

45 Cut Competitive Finishing

A late cut is a great way to score so train it!

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Team development starts with individual accountability.

What are you doing to build that into your culture?

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Baseline Drive 3 on 3

Challenge your players to read the game from different angles and situations.

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Engage to Disengage

Being able to engage your defender and disengage to get to space is crucial.

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Good drills don't make good coaches and trainers.

Being able to explain how your drill transfers to game like situations does.

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Push Cross 1 on 1

Once the offensive player pockets the basketball, the defensive player is allowed to close space. Play at and around the rim!

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Don't Second Guess Yourself

Development happens through failure!

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

If your trainer is telling you not to go to other trainers.

It might be time to find a new trainer.

Around the Cone Shooting

As the offensive player you have to be able to evaluate what's best for you to get your shot off.

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Play Extended

To many blocked shots happen because players can't play outside their frame.

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

More Drills does not equal more development.

Measure how your drill transfers to the game rather than just reps.

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Retreat Shooting

Work on your pick up at the same time as your shooting!

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Intersection Points

Where your path and the defenders path cross is an intersection point. Depending on where that is determines what you should do.

@daviddoss83 @IndianaSirens Love it!

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Young players are often taught what to do before they are taught how to read the game.

How early should decision making be introduced in your opinion?

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Players don't need to eliminate mistakes in training.

They need to learn from them.

The players that develop the quickest often fail the most.

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Around the cone 1 on 1

Engage to disengage, kill the defenders momentum!

[Ryan Miller @RMillerHoops]

Intersection Point 1 on 1

Read the defense wherever they cut you off is your read. Go or change!
