The Maritime Archaeology Unit (MAU) is working at the Godawaya, documenting the oldest shipwreck site of the Indian Ocean. This wooden wreck dates back to the 2nd century BCE, a cargo ship, wrecked at southern Sri Lanka.

Research and fieldwork at Godawaya have begun. The 2000-year-old shipwreck is situated in Southern Sri Lanka, near the historical harbour site at the estuary of Walawe River. Hope to bring the latest news ASAP

Kayankeny ancient stone bridge
The recent surveys confirm that the ancient stone bridge found near the Kayankeny is the longest stone made bridge found in Sri Lanka. Remains of this bridge were found in 2012 during an exploration done by Maritime Archaeology Unit.
