The Zero Milestone, a key monument of the Good Roads Movement, turned one 100 yrs old yesterday. It was intended to be the spot 'from which all road distances in the United States and throughout the Western hemisphere should be reckoned' #GoodRoads
Transportation reporter @JWPascale shares the story behind "one of the most significant monuments in D.C." that is sometimes just used as a pedestal to see the White House.

Glad to see our work engaging students on the design of the facility + helping explain roles + how streets work highlighted in the piece #Design4Kids#STEM#STEAM#TrafficGardens
An elementary school in D.C. now has a "traffic garden" -- a European concept that mimics traffic conditions in a safe setting for kids to learn to bike. https://t.co/38DUvmJqI8
Rutland middle schoolers work to improve street safety: currently at the Vermont SRTS conference listening to these incredible students talk about their project to improve school drop-off! Design by kids! https://t.co/EIRgtuFyWw

@ycwhite The legal LLC called ‘The Bureau of Good Roads’ will exist but public facing name + website will change. New business will be called ‘Discover Traffic Gardens’ so the focus will shift a little although we will be using the same hands-on types of activities & materials, etc
Sadly it is the last day of The Bureau of Good Roads website. The Bureau world was filled with workshops, classes, camps, walks, presentations and large-scale events & this was the final newsletter https://t.co/BvMUNY0KTp
You can still sign up for the newsletter before the website goes dark soon & that'll put you on the new mailing list where you'll find more of the same BUT different. We're doubling down because we know that children engage with these concepts & get it https://t.co/kCbciSh1Zf
Newsletter No. 1 + Discover Family Engineering Day 2016 - the stories & ideas remain much the same as from that first report we put out into the world. That edition included our very first video, The Bureau of Good Roads goes to Washington https://t.co/PAjhuvmH5p
