@jessgill03 Immigration really got going when we invaded much of tbe world to form the British Empire and made them all British citizens. Immigration is our heritage, part of being British. The era you refer to didn't exist in the way you describe.
@thelowse@JamesMelville You left out the economic fall out from the 2008 financial crisis, covid and Putin's war. At least we've paid off the WW2 debt.
@John_The_Fitter@philatrail The lesson has been learned, but hardening the railway to the new environmental risks is a massive task. It's bound to take years, probably decades, to tackle it all.
@orlaminihane Google says about 2,300 veterans are homeless. About 3% of rough sleepers are veterans, but they make up 3.8% of the population. Veterans are actually doing better than the average Brit.
@JoeBrownLondon The ventilation on the upper deck was dreadful, getting to the upper deck was awkward and the stairs up took away seats from the lower deck. And it was cramped due to the loading gauge. Platform extensions and longer trains was a better solution all round.
@tonyblackburn@BBCRadio2 Radio 2 Extra would have been well done, no doubt, but the money would be better spent on things that the commercial sector aren't doing.
@tonyblackburn@BBCRadio2 I disagree that Ofcom are out of touch; the consultation saw to that. Ofcom is there to regulate the radio market; stations invested heavily to serve those that Radio 2 left behind. Spending public money to compete would be wrong.
@BillBailey Another Yumbles mug has a mishap and loses the ability to hold meaningful quantities of beverages. Can your magic store room offer a replacement, please?
@paultrowntree@railnigel Your post suggests that the photographer is the only victim. The train crew, those who clean up, those who investigate, the photographer's family, and the pax caught up when the job stops are all victims, too.
@aaronbgreiner Looks like all of the cars are being driven more carefully than the cyclist, who seems to determined to go for every gap. If the cars go, so should the cycles; with that many pedestrians around, they're an accident waiting to happen.
@pjd23272@David_Cameron You voted for your MP. The MPs collectively endorse the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister appoints the Ministers. Ergo, Cameron is a Minister, Sunak sez so.
