Very happy to see our work on the evaluation of splenic artery aneurysms published 🖊️
This study establishes the limitations of CT evaluation and builds the foundations for our ongoing splenic artery aneurysm research at St George's Vascular Institute

Anna Pouncey (@pounce321) highlights the importance of recruiting to trials such as WARRIORS—which aims to assess whether women with small #AAA currently are treated too late in their clinical course—to address a “stark and horrific health inequity”
Thank you to prof @maynard_nick for taking the time to speak to us at #VSASM2024 about G•za & the systematic targeting of the healthcare system this last year.
And a shoutout to @VSGBI for offering a platform for this to be discussed & for raising awareness.
It was a huge privilege to present our work on both splenic artery aneurysms and amputation mortality on the main stage at #VSASM2024 and to take home the Sol Cohen prize for #SGVI. Already looking forward to next year in Hull!
@jesss_shea at @VSGBI#VSASM2024 presenting meta-analysis data on tourniquet usage in amputations surgery.
Tourniquet usage associated with
✅ reduced blood loss
✅ shorter operation time
↔️ equivalent SSI, amp revision rates & mortality

Thanks for organising @vascularsurgeon and @FrimleyHealth. Showcasing some excellent research and clinical cases from KSS, Wessex and Thames Valley. Looking forward to next year in @UHSFT@UnitVascular

@Matt_L_Nash @DrHuw@Matt_ParaACP@Dr_Done_@VirtueOfNothing@FICMNews Such an insane take...
We should get rid of vascular surgeons and let everyone have a go, as @Matt_L_Nash says
I wasn't taught how to do a fem pop bypass at medical school.
EVARs are just putting a tube in a tube.
Who needs a medical degree/post grad training? It's easy...
New #EJVESOA on "Long-term outcomes and durability of FEVAR: a meta-analysis of time-to-event data", reporting reasonable outcome estimates up to five years, but with a paucity of data beyond that @IanLoftus2#aortaed

@clarissascortex As to whether there is a better system I'm unsure. You either buy into "better" students get better choices (which will be the case after foundation for higher training places anyway) or you chose a less disruptive system e.g. where students get FY training in their uni hospitals
@clarissascortex As bad as the SJT was as an assessment, there was at least an element of control (I do believe you could work to improve your score). I therefore feel we may have moved onto an even more unfair system. 1/2
