The collapse of higher ed is being framed as a problem of population decline—the “demographic cliff.” And mass immigration is being proposed as the solution.

The economic arguments for mass immigration are increasingly like this; they don’t even bother to pretend mass immigration on its own has any net positive value, but only that it’s a temporary palliative to delay the death of failing institutions and business models that refuse to adapt to the market.

The institutions deserve to die, and mass immigration won’t save them anyway.
