Went to see it for myself…
5/10
It’s not a trash movie like some are claiming. I felt like the plot suffered (just as Superman did) and dragged at points. No criticism of the actors…they were fine and played their roles well but it didn’t feel like they had a ton to work with. It tried to be emotional at parts, but didn’t succeed. The CGI was sloppy with faces. It looked like 3 different women played Supergirl. The music was good although I’ve tired of the James Gunn needle drops. The ending in Kara’s apartment felt…anti-climatic.
This is one that could have been enjoyed just as much at home. Save the price of a ticket and see it when it hits streaming.
@HollywoodHandle Supergirl had 20+ showings last week on 4 standard screens at our theater. Now it has 4 showing on one screen for this weekend. I’ve never seen a movie this big get an 80% reduction one week after opening. Disclosure Day has more showings. Absolute flop.
@AndrewDBailey 3pm showing (5 minutes from now)
8 tickets sold.
It’s 103 degrees outside.
People would rather die from heat exhaustion than see this movie.
Fremont Street is great if you enjoy seeing and dealing with riff-raff. The buskers are awful. Just a bunch of tortas pretending to be showgirls, uneducated guys yelling into mics with speakers about “starting the show” and homeless panhandling. Then you escape into a casino and you get approached while playing by people asking for cigarettes or $5.
