@nebopeklo The poster shop in there was 'the' place to get your massive Screamadelica poster...without which no student flat was complete - for good measure I had a Bandwagonesque one as well. Happy memories.
@youngvulgarian His fave book on Desert Island Discs was Kelmans 'A Disaffection' which is a brilliant and serious novel - he knows his shit and is playing us all - which I get and am here for.
Whisky Galore meets Fargo. 30kg of pure cocaine washed up on a Hebridean beach. Ferg can't believe his luck. Then the Glasgow boys arrive. Then the London boys. And when a 60 tonne whale is stranded in the bay everyone arrives. That's lot of folk on a wee island. #XpoNorth
@MichaelDaly64@LostGlasgow@YourWullie Great memories of Jack's contributions to these debates in the late '80s..as a spotty undergraduate I was almost starstruck. Pure box office. The Herald was some paper then - and Fridays were unmissable
@juderogers Great writing. Just finished your book which I also loved. Up in Scotland , same age as Damon,...always a big fan but have been unexpectedly moved by the clips from Wembley - your piece made me realise why .
@petepaphides @sohoradio Allow me another bite as no one has mentioned it. 'Upside Down' was the most thrilling record I'd ever heard. Listened to nothing else for weeks. That it had been made by two guys who's Mums house I passed every day on my way to school seemed miraculous - still does to be honest.
@petepaphides @sohoradio Pete I worked in my neighbours newsagent in EK all through my teenage years (mid 80s) One Sunday morning the whole of Primal Scream (Splash One/Jim Beattie era) came in either on the way to/from a gig . To a music obsessed teen it seemed miraculous. Bobby bought a Mint Aero.
@WaveRoyal @PattleRichard @TheMysterious Ach I know...you're right pal. There's been a bit of a pile on to the author and I had that in mind when I commented...
