في عام 2023، عندما ضرب زلزال السادس من شباط المدمّر سوريا وتركيا، كانت مناطق شمال غربي سوريا الأكثر تضرراً في سوريا، ومع ذلك لم تتمكن فرق الإنقاذ الدولية من الوصول إليها في الساعات والأيام الحاسمة الأولى بسبب الظروف السياسة حينها، كما لم يسمح نظام الأسد لأي فريق أو مساعدات أن تعبر من مناطق سيطرته إلى أرياف إدلب وحلب.
يومها، وجد السوريون في شمال غربي سوريا أنفسهم أمام كارثة كبرى بإمكانات محدودة، ووقف الدفاع المدني السوري (الخوذ البيضاء)، ومعه الأهالي، في مواجهة العجز والوقت وجبال من الركام، كانوا يسابقون الزمن، وينبشون بأيديهم بين الأنقاض، بحثاً عن حياة يمكن إنقاذها، وعن صوت ما يزال يقاوم تحت الركام ونجحنا يومها بإنقاذ مئات الأرواح.
أما اليوم، وفي سوريا التي نريدها ونؤمن بها، سوريا التي تحفظ قيمة الإنسان، أرسلت وزارة الطوارئ وإدارة الكوارث فريق بحث وإنقاذ متخصص، يضم عناصر من الذين استجابوا لكارثة زلزال شباط 2023، ليقطعوا مسافة تتجاوز 10 آلاف كيلومتر، ويشاركوا في أعمال الإنقاذ وال��ستجابة الإنسانية عقب الزلزال الذي ضرب فنزويلا.
هذه هي سوريا التي نحلم بها، سوريا التي لا تنسى ألمها، لكنها تحوّله إلى تضامن، سوريا التي ترى في إنقاذ الأرواح واجباً إنسانياً مشتركاً، يتجاوز الحدود والجغرافيا والسياسة.

Wow, now Iran’s regime and Egypt have objected to Seattle’s Pride Match and urged FIFA to remove Pride-related symbols.

This is exactly what I’ve been warning about: authoritarian Islamists never stop at asking for tolerance.

First: “Respect our religious practices. Respect our customs. Respect our sensitivities.”

Then: “Change your traditions. Silence your values. Adjust your society to our ideology.”

These are the same “values” that sentence women to 74 lashes for singing, execute gay people, and shoot peaceful protesters in the streets.

Free societies should never surrender their values to appease authoritarianism.

Україна сподівається, що світ знайде способи допомогти Венесуельському народу в цій трагічній ситуації, і ми готові надати допомогу: наші рятувальники можуть приєднатися до пошуково-рятувальних операцій.
