No one should be treated like this. No one and nowhere. Legal or illegal, American or foreign, young or old, rich or poor. Everyone's life is sacred and everyone deserves respect.
THEY WERE PRAYING.
They were sitting in pews.
Heads bowed, the littlest legs dangling.
Precious hands fidgeting with nerves and excitement and energy.
It was the first week back, the first mass of the school year.
Bullets shattering the stained glass window panes,
Raining down on them.
On CHILDREN.
OUR CHILDREN.
We have lost our soul, America.
THEY
WERE
PRAYING.
My heart breaks for the families of Harper Moyski and Fletcher Merkel.
These beautiful children had their whole lives in front of them, but now will forever be ten and eight years old. Their families will never again get to hold them or hear them laugh—all because dangerous people have easy access to guns in America.
Harper and Fletcher deserved to grow up and I’ll always fight in their honor.
🚨MAJOR BREAKING: An ICE agent was caught on tape violently ripping a child from her migrant father as he was arrested trying to RENEW HIS DOCUMENTS.
This cruelty is SICK. The media FAILS to show these stories, so it’s up to us to get them everywhere.
🚨 ICE built a swamp-side kennel, crammed 1,900 human beings, 34 per cage, around a single toilet-sink they’re supposed to drink from.
Lawmakers toured it and walked out shaken, saying no photo can capture the stench. If this is “border security,” count me out.
One of the greatest deceptions of our time is the false narrative that we should be more concerned about a poor person misusing the welfare system or an immigrant being here illegally than we are about cruel people having unprecedented wealth and power over all of us.
This #MemorialDay, we pause to honor the brave men and women who selflessly made the ultimate sacrifice for all our freedom. Let’s commit to be worthy of the heroic actions too many have made for those freedoms we take for granted.
Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids Him rise, Alleluia!
Christ hath opened Paradise, Alleluia!
#ThirdVerse
On this Good Friday, the words below cause me to pause and remember one of our baptismal vows: “Do you accept the freedom and power God gives you to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they may present themselves?”
