Boswell is 6-2 with a 6-7 wingspan, per the combine. Smith is around 6-2 with around 6-8 wingspan, per measurements from *not* the combine.
I get why you disagree, I might be wrong, it’s happened before. I didn’t think Darius would be what he was last year. Very real chance it’s the same with Jordan.
Just giving an opinion.
Ky Boswell averaged 12 ppg. 4 rpg and 3 apg the last two years, was an ELITE defender and leader for a team that made the Final Four.
My guess is the raw numbers will be higher for Jordan Smith (Arkansas will play at tempo, Illinois did not) but IMO comparing Jordan Smith to Ky Boswell is a compliment.
Jordan duplicating senior year Ky as a freshman would make him a top five impact freshman in the class.
OFFSEASON GRADES: ARKANSAS
I absolutely love Jordan Smith because he’s all about WINNING!!!
So my grade was higher than @RobDauster!!

To enroll early? For sure. To expect them to impact this season the way they would if they enrolled next season? Nope. Look at all the kids that have reclassed. Cooper Flagg is the outlier. Elliot Cadeau is the more standard career arc in college. Rough first year, frustrated fans in what should have been his freshman year, explodes as a junior.
Strong, quick, tough. He’d guard ones. He’d guard fives. He switched on to JT Toppin when he was going off against Illinois and slowed him down.
Remember, he got to Arizona at 17. It’s hard for kids that young. It’s why I’m bearish on all the reclass/young Euro guys, including Spears, Kusturica, Boumjte-Bounjte.
If you’re looking at blocked shots to determine Ky Boswell’s defensive impact, you’re looking at the wrong stuff.
And I love Jordan. I’ve seen him play a dozen times in person. He is the ultimate winner. My favorite player in the freshman class, no question. My concern with Arkansas’ backcourt has more to do with going from Meleek Thomas (who I would have had as a first team All-American) to Jeremiah Wilkinson.
And more than anything else, I’m worried about whether they did enough in the front court. They’re young, thin and not all that physical. Look at the front courts of the teams that have won big the last two years.
I don’t think they’ll be terrible, I just see them as more of a 6 seed than a 3 seed. Hope I’m wrong, because your fans are sickos and consume all the content when they’re good.
Feel free to disagree, I see your side, but just know there’s no hate coming from me. Just an opinion. We’ll see if it’s good or bad.
I can tell you for a fact we’ll get WAY more ‘clicks’ on platforms that matter financially (YouTube, newsletter, pod feeds, etc) for glazing than for what you call click bait. Mentions on X don’t matter. TBH I hope I’m wrong. Arkansas fans flood YouTube when they’re good, and that’s good for business!!!
Arkansas fans are not happy with my take on their roster. I get it, I’m on an island here, but I have real concerns about interior physicality, losing Meleek Thomas and relying on so many freshmen, including a pair of reclass kids.

Disappointing that the number is that low, but it was time. He burned too many bridges. When he cares, he’s maybe the best ball-playing CB in the world. He just doesn’t seem to care all that often. Happy he’s someone else’s headache now.
