Congrats to @jasminnemendez for winning the De Pere Middle School March Madness Poetry competition with her poem “Luke & the Frog: An American Fairytale”
@AndersonGL Twisted by @halseanderson. Hands down. Every single student I’ve suggested it to has come back to me after not being able to put it down asking for “more books like this one”
After announcing the winning poem from yesterday’s March Madness Poetry Edition, my kids were vehemently expressing their reasons why they voted the way they did. My favorite student comment… “I never thought in a million years I would be arguing about poetry.” #winning#ELA
Ok Twitterverse…I need to update my March Madness Poetry brackets. Looking for poems suitable for grade 8. Leaning heavily into modern works from diverse voices…
@Scholastic@Adernbach Ummmm RIP Gary Paulsen, but I’m glad he isn’t around to see the grammar error in this tweet. Grief is a noun. We can’t GRIEF something only GRIEVE it. #grammar
Looking to connect with another 8th grade class from somewhere outside of Wisconsin using @Flipgrid. Like video penpals...but more! Sharing book talks, getting feedback on writing, etc. Thanks @pennykittle for the idea today in Oshkosh, WI.
@WTHS_MBB The kitchen table and couch were in my basement at home for years - so yes those were purchased. Other items I bought for $5 or less from thrift stores. desks and tables were "trial run" furniture I offered to pilot for my principal over the last couple of years.
