The Pact on Migration and Asylum and the adoption of the revised Return Regulation are a major European achievement.

Eurostat today show Malta's GDP growth in 2026 Q1 as 4.3%.
Once again we are best in class. Growing at a rate 14 times the euro area average.

Malta remains committed to dialogue, cooperation and strong partnerships, particularly with our Western Balkan partners as they shape their future with the EU.

While growth in the euro area fell to just 0.8% in 2026 Q1, Malta’s economy grew by 3.9%, or by about 5 times as much.
Growth exceeded the projections made by the Commission and other international institutions.
Moreover workers’ income rose by twice the GDP growth rate. - RA
Malta led overall growth.
Growth expectations remain positive despite rising uncertainty. Strong momentum, rising wages, measures cushioning price increases, and a falling deficit.
The European Commission’s opinion speaks for itself. - RA
Robust economic momentum, continues to outperform European peers, dynamic, consistent record of fiscal prudence, strong fundamentals, investor-friendly regulatory framework... some of the reasons why Scope Ratings rate Malta A+ with a stable outlook.

A new record home-ownership rate in 2025, 85%, up from 81% in my first year as PM. Schemes like equity sharing, the 10% deposit scheme, New Hope, the first time buyers grant, the incentives to buy UCA properties all helped to achieve this result. But more remains to be done. - RA
While 5 EU countries have just been given a negative outlook on their rating by Moody's, the international agency reaffirmed Malta's A2 rating with a stable outlook based on our strong trend growth, moderate debt and strong institutional framework - RA
