🇦🇺 Australia: The Albanese government has taken in a record number of migrants in 12 months, despite promising to cut the figure amid political and public pressure.

An analysis from the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) showed net permanent and long term arrivals hit 57,270 in January of this year alone, the highest number on record, it said.

In the 12-months to January, almost half a million people entered the country.
