Nudge theory used to be the toast of policy wonks and campaign strategists alike. It promised to subtly reshape human behaviour through a gentle poke to our hearts, rather than coercion. So, what happened? Here's what @jasonmackenzie thinks... https://t.co/2N8fSm6MlQ

Mr. President, Ukraine did not “start” this war. Russia launched an unprovoked and brutal invasion claiming hundreds of thousands of lives. The Road to Peace must be built on the Truth.🇺🇸🇺🇦

Let’s talk about this.
Having spoken to several members of the press corps, here’s what happened:
1️⃣ When Starmer raised points of disagreement, the British press were *roughly* bundled out of the room by 🇨🇳security.
2️⃣ No complaints were raised by the UK (political) delegation.
3️⃣ Veteran journalists present said they couldn’t think of a precedent. The entire corps being manhandled by foreign representatives in an official diplomatic setting, but many also surprised and (understandably) disappointed that it all happened without complaint from the PM’s delegation.
None of the press present seem to want to make a fuss. But it’s really worrying that nothing has been said about this during or after.
🇨🇳 diplomacy is increasingly assertive, and sending a signal that our journalists can be treated like this without any consequences will increase the likelihood of it happening again.
We have written to @DavidLammy and @UKinVenezuela requesting the British Government make representations to Venezuela for the immediate release of Jésus Armas.
Jésus saw the UK as a beacon of liberty in the world. We must be that now.
Jesús, a former IEA intern, has been arbitrarily detained by a repressive authoritarian regime.
He dared to defend democracy and freedom, values that are intolerable to Maduro's government.
He is just one of over 2,000 such cases since the Venezuelan election.
"This method is used by the security forces of the Maduro regime to make dissidents disappear, to later confirm they were arrested for "treason against the fatherland"."

With millions of votes still(!) to be counted, the dust is settling on a turning point election for the USA. 🇺🇸 The Obama coalition that sustained Democratic success for more than 15 years has shattered - whether or not it can be rebuilt is up for debate.

As our visits to Australia and Samoa come to a close, my wife and I would like to thank both nations for the warmest of welcomes and for the countless fond memories we will carry in our hearts for many years to come.
Even when we are far apart in distance, the many close connections that unite us across the globe and through our Commonwealth family have been renewed, and will remain as profound as they are enduring.

Today is a day to remember for those of us who served in Afghanistan. As we mark ten years since the Union Flag was lowered at Camp Bastion, we remember those who died and respect those who served.
150,000 British people served there and we should stand proud…together and united as one! @DefenceHQ@BritishArmy@RoyalNavy@RoyalMarines@RoyalAirForce@VeteransGovUK #sellyoak
Why does #China govt harass indep civil society groups meeting thousands of miles away? Because it’s never had to pay a price for doing so—its sense of impunity is vast.
The @KamalaHarris campaign has had a short time to make a big impact and shift the US presidential election in favour of the Democrats. What does the data show, and is she succeeding in doing so?
