February 1957 was an important part of Muhammad's story because it was this time, 66 years ago, that he met Angelo Dundee.
Dundee was in Louisville with another fighter, when a young Cassius Clay asked to meet him. The rest is history!
📆 ON THIS DAY
A young Cassius Clay took down Donnie Fleeman in 1961. Clay won the bout through a TKO in the seventh round. This was the first time Ali went six rounds in a boxing match! 🥊
Muhammad Ali said this to Martin Luther King Jr. in May 1967 when they both appeared at a rally for fair housing in Louisville. Both men admired each other for their civil rights activism.
