I'm off here for a couple of days. When I get back, hopefully the Americans cheering on Scottish teenagers running around with weapons will have wound their necks in. As a mum, who is aware of very high levels of teen violence, including in schools, this is very disturbing.
Violent crime committed by teens in Scotland and the UK is a very real problem. I wish US commentators would understand this and not egg on kids brandishing weapons.
“Your punishment for having a knife when they searched you would be very different from the thief’s. For him to have a knife was mere misbehavior, tradition, he didn’t know any better. But for you to have one was ‘terrorism.’”—Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
@AdamH2900 I suspect he's using this to test the limits of free speech, likely in light of Lucy's release last week. Lots of support for weapons from US accounts, which could certainly be viewed as incitement. More to his involvement than meets the eye, I think.
@AllieRenison@RupertLowe10 Yip, all the Americans with their offers of gun running and these bizarre Boudicca memes are weird and people on the right here are getting sucked in despite an epidemic of teen violence. Exploitative.
@markr360@RupertLowe10 Lots of powerful Americans exploiting this situation to test free speech. All well and good, but it's not clever to egg on kids walking around with knives or to shame men in deprived areas into violence. Many on the right, including Lowe, are being played and they don't know it
@rpd_pacer@dontforgetchaos This is my cousin's experience too 😔. Services should be much much better at recognising and addressing trauma and vicarious trauma amongst their staff. Shocking that they don't.
@dodgson_sally It is very very bizarre. No context. Just the weird memes. Adults (loads of Americans) cheering this on. We have an epidemic of teen on teen violence in the UK and people want to make this child their leader.
@Strumpetkitty@koshercockney Indeed. I don't know why (mostly American) people are cheering on kids walking around brandishing weapons. We have had so many tragedies in the UK of teen on teen violence. It's horrific. Stop celebrating it.
@Sissa2308 It would have been around that time. I can remember exactly where - I was driving along Guild Street in Aberdeen, UK, and the feeling was like little bubbles! Later in my pregnancy I could feel star jumps!
