Wouldn't it be cool if someone made some software or a game that made it more common for people who are "too old" for gaming to still be involved? Like a FPS or space sim with roles specialized for older folks, so that more people can game with their dads, moms, grandparents?
A huge part of indie game dev is the marketing, so I'm trying to develop more of a presence on platforms like YouTube.
The video series I'm starting today will highlight obscure indie games looking for feedback. Random indie devs. The smaller the better.

On Monday, my first Sprint for Not My Blood ended, so today I will produce a progress report on where things are at. I'll also include download links, as today I expect I will complete the basic game loop and make it available for initial playtesting.
83 days until Halloween! βοΈ
I'm on the lookout for some reasonably priced, aggressive, Metal music to add to Not My Blood. I picked up a couple tracks off the Epic Store, but if you know of anything else- feel free to send it my way! π
@aaronfranke7@gamefromscratch@TimSweeneyEpic It's no different from any other open market product. Whatever is the best standard will receive the most attention and largest user base. Other companies will want to be a part of that ecosystem by partnering with the leading standard and moving forward. Look at OpenXR.
VR mods make me salty. Making games is hard. Making VR games even moreso. So it's annoying to work late nights or long hours developing ground-up VR just to see others make money off of drag-and-drop VR cameras in AAA games you can only run with a 4090.
Tonight, I met up with Eric, who previously did 2D art for Strawberrai. We talked about a game design I've been cooking up and I'm happy to say that we're both looking forward to working together to make something fun over the next few months. Finalizing the contract next.
I added support for non-VR players to the currently unreleased build of Over Then Under. It was a pain and I had to rewrite logic for most of the game. I'm unhappy with the stalker AI at the moment though, so I want to improve their pathing ASAP by making an actual AI controller.
I wrote an AAR for the last month of #solodev on Over Then Under. Inside, I detail the original idea, the challenges I ran into implementing that, how I resolved those issues and my own suggested improvements.

I think the way to help mass adoption of #VR as an #IndieGameDev is to make fun games that support both VR and non-VR players. This way the audience isn't restricted to just the smaller VR audience and non-VR players can see how awesome VR is and finally choose a headset!
I want to start working on an asynchronous multiplayer game right away, but I need to finish off Over Then Under, first. There's quite a bit more I could do, like make make a Quest2 build, polish up the hastily assembled assets, and fix existing bugs.
