@evreythingsaint@BlueTintedLCFC He never got over 100k a week at Saints. JWP was the first over 100k, then only Ramsdale has been paid over 100k a week. Think the only other player offered over 100k was Ings but he never signed the deal
Overall thoughts on #SaintsFC.
The stark contrast in quality between Saints and Palace yesterday highlighted the growing gap between the Championship and the lower mid-table Premier League. It’s clear we are fighting for survival against teams far superior to us. Matheus Cunha at Wolves and Eze at Palace, both 50m+ players, are involved in a relegation battle, which speaks volumes.
In my view, our team simply isn’t good enough for the Premier League, but it’s certainly capable of winning the Championship next season. I highly doubt that players like Archer, Downes, or Bednarek will have done enough this season to earn Premier League moves in 2025/26, but they would undoubtedly be valuable assets in the Championship.
For an ownership group that once spoke about solidifying Saints in the top ten of the Premier League, it would now take a miracle for SR to avoid having two relegations on their record. There’s no doubt Solak will be frustrated, as relegation will mean more of his money spent covering losses.
The appointment of Ivan Jurić seems a sensible one. He has a good track record of stabilising clubs and improving their league positions. I don’t think it’s fair to judge him on whether he can keep #SaintsFC up this season—it’s an almost impossible task, and it already feels too far gone. The next eight months should be seen as an opportunity for him to settle in and assess the squad.
SR must refine their current recruitment strategy. While they’ve found gems like Mateus Fernandes and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, there have also been countless mistakes. With stricter PSR regulations, we simply cannot afford to waste money as we have in the past—it will only make it harder for us to secure a solid Premier League future.
SR did the first half of the job well, hired a manager capable of getting us promoted and built a squad on the cheap to do that. But the job is only halve finished. Staying in the Premier League once we got here would’ve been vital for their ‘10 year plan’. Now we have to go through all of that again and back to square one.
In a recent statement, SR reiterated their “long-term commitment to the club” and acknowledged the gap between the Championship and the Premier League. The big question is whether they will spend in January, knowing that other clubs will inflate their asking prices due to our desperation. Can we afford another Onuachu/Sulemana/Alcaraz transfer window? Absolutely not. SR likely spent £10m+ to sack Martin, which I imagine will restrict us further in January.
I understand both sides regarding Martin, why SR would be hesitant to sack him due to paying off his contract. I think the correct decision was made, albeit in hindsight it was done too late.
What next?
Surely, the Championship is calling for Saints. If SR truly have a “long-term commitment” to the club, it is vital that they learn from their mistakes. This season already feels lost (and it’s incredibly depressing to say that at the halfway point).
@alexcthomas17 @IWSaint1@louorns We change shape when attacking, Manning goes LW and KWP goes LB, but when defending it's meant to make us more secure. It's definitely helped Manning this season and KWP has been decent there too
@sfcwxl I know enough about you where you call girls whales and cry when you don't get your own way 👍keep up the fake nice guy personality so you get invited to events
@CcmontysBackup2@Kotaku I've had about 4 SL, in one episode got hit whilst carrying an item and it stayed frozen in the air, and in another I paused the game and it wouldn't let me unpause it twice, then I moved when a character was talking and the dialogue just stopped. Its a fun game but its so buggy
