@PKNCAAWBB@michaelFhurley He did, but an elite major league defender usually does get a good jump. I think there are more than 8 of them.
In CF, it would be 85%.
@8_Maxx@MikeDro_ Did they tell him to move his fingernails to the top seam on his knuckle curve and to throw his cutter 18.2% of the time to righties, 25.8 % to lefties?
@8_Maxx@MikeDro_ PS- Changing a pitchers grip and arm angle is 100% analytics.
Ditto for radar gun numbers over optical deception, location and movement
I sat in the Lobby of TB12 last year with a AAA pitcher. He was frustrated because the front office was changing his arm angle, pitch grips and repertoire because of analytical projections. He was dealing with arm pain as a result.
3 years ago, I sat at the WWBA in Jupiter Fl watching my son. They had a Team USA , WVU commit Lefty, 90-92, facing a Team USA Righty, 92 to 95, committed to Florida.
The Lefty threw a six inning 2 hitter, both to a 1st round pick Switch Hitting SS out of Georgia.
The Florida kid left down 3 to 0, walked 6 guys in 5 innings and gave up 5 hits and some hard outs.
I was sitting next to 2 Dungeon and Dragons SD Padre scouts drooling over the Florida kid. "4, 5, 5.."
I asked if they charted how he pitched from the stretch, command, secondary and tertiary pitches, poise, optical deception (he was flat as a pancake over the top). They laughed and said he was sitting 92 to 94, touching 95.
My eyes told me he was easier to hit that a sidearm Lefty throwing 75% strikes at both corners at the knees at 90-91.
The results said the same. They didnt care.
Baseball, to me, is an art more than a science.
I don't like strikeouts, launch angles, walks, knucklehead lack of fundamental plays, 8 pitchers a game.
I like setting up hitters, hit n runs, contact, rbis, heads up plays, the mental side of the game.
I got killed on Twitter for suggesting we trade one Roman Anthony instead of Kyle Teel and Braden Montgomery. I saw them both play on the Cape with my eyes
and my son played against Montgomery. The now major league player who stayed with that summer said they were the 2 best hitters in the league. Anthony may be the next Mike Trout and make me a fool, but I like hitters, not walk machine WAR guys.
In hoops, i like ball movement, players moving without the ball, fastbreaks, not isolation, pick n pop 3s all day long, no defense.
You asked, there it is.
This has a Dan Duquette, "More Days in 1st place in the regular season" ring to it.
You are Wes Welker. Max effort guy who outhustles and out works everyone in the Regular Season.
It's just harder to do against talented guys in the playoffs when the handle is pressed and there's a hand in your face on every shot.
Love ya Jaylen, but calling out that attention to yourself is out of character. Bad Take.
