The pride and passion of the New Mexicans inside University Stadium tonight brought a tear to my eye.
Nights like tonight remind us what we’re capable of when we come together and BELIEVE. 🙏🏼
@Coach_Eck has inspired that belief in all of us. 🐺
Eck: ‘Brett understood where I was coming from. We just made a huge play in the game, you can’t do something that gets them back in the game. Never going to get away from coaching guys in the moment. Have to remember everything’s on camera, it adds 40 pounds, adds some rage too.’
Eck on keeping OFF simple: ‘You’d love to do 10 things really good, but you have to be really good at five. If you’re going to be a team that relies on passing game, you can’t be too simplistic.’
Eck on return from Hawaii: ‘Stretch right after the flight. Not let the lactic acid sit in your body all day. Sunday we had staff & players go right to office and get treatment. Get some rest that night. It worked out. Tired Sun night, felt great Mon. Shortened practices a bit.’
Eck: ‘I think our team has done a good job winning games & connecting with the community. Rabid fan base. Hadn’t given them good, consistent fb to get excited about. It’s something that brings a campus together when you have good fb on Saturday, & they’ve rallied around it.’
Eck on RBs: ‘They all do good job complementing each other. OL blocking well, Kiefer doing good job making guys miss, Scottre doing good job getting hard yards down low. DeDe got 30 yard gain on third down.’
Eck: ‘We have to improve on ST. One of the few games where we didn’t win ST battle. Have to hit one of those two FGs. Have to punt better with our location and make sure distance matches hang time.’
Eck: ‘We have to get better with our passing game. Running the ball at a high level which should set up the play action. We have to continue to get Toa reps. We have to build on stuff when QB is doing good job of executing. Trying to keep building confidence and reps.’
