@DanNeidle - And as such, micro business doesn’t seem relevant. Fact is if i, for example, go to the wall as a small operator in the grand scheme, HMRC loses 400k P/A in PAYE / VAT. Now in truth we exist almost solely to employ people and pay tax, there’s no margin left.
@DanNeidle But almost no cafes, restaurants, pubs or bars that the general public engage with are micro businesses. Given the high cost / high revenue / high margin structure of hospitality it’s a bit of a red herring. It’s also HMRC driven for all hospitality to be reg from day 1..
@DanNeidle Would love more flesh on the who benefits figures. Owning two hospitality businesses, I don’t know a single non-vat registered operator out of hundreds I’m personally acquainted with… seems like that’s a questionable cornerstone of the report?
If someone has made a good restaurant / hospitality EPOS with a shopify-esque e-commerce module for national shipping / website, I will give you zillions of pounds. Anyone?
@banks_chef@UKLabour This fire set in in 2022 when mortgage rates spikes and we saw an unbelievable drop in custom. While taxes and such haven’t helped, the fact is a lack of disposable income has destroyed hospitality. Mortgage rates down, spending up.
@MattChristmas1 It’s the worst. Terrible service protocol. And anyone who thinks it’s impressive probably think the ivy godalming is the ivy and tasting menus are cool.
@jstanfordchef @APCOvernight Classic APC, worst of the worst and used by many food distributors. Would often see them drive past WF, not see a space and drive off.
@jamiegoode@ADHalliwell If you think of the sheer volume of trash, it must be so frustrating for the (Many!) producers of delicious wines both classic and contemporary.
