On this 82nd anniversary of D-Day, we honor the brave Americans and Allied forces who landed on the beaches of Normandy and helped secure victory in World War II. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to freedom changed the course of history.
Earlier this year, Virginia’s farmers experienced severe freeze events that resulted in millions of dollars in crop losses and placed a significant strain on farm families and rural communities. I was proud to lead a letter in support of Virginia’s request for disaster designation so that producers can access the resources and relief they need to recover. I visited Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg as part of America’s 250th celebration. Founded in 1674, this historic church welcomed leaders like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Henry during the founding of our nation. It remains a powerful reminder of America’s enduring history and values.
This year’s NDAA strengthens our national defense by revitalizing our defense industrial base, restoring the lethality of our military, improving servicemembers’ quality of life, and strengthening our ability to deter our adversaries. I was proud to vote in favor of the committee’s passage of the NDAA of Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27). Read my press release here: https://t.co/Z8AR2Kv0m4
I am proud to announce that the House of Representatives has passed my $1.2 million request for Essex County, Virginia. This funding will help modernize critical infrastructure in the community — keeping Virginians safer and improving the efficiency of emergency services and government operations. I look forward to seeing this legislation advance to the Senate. Read more here: https://t.co/7dyHGSBlJl

Virginia has played a defining role in our nation’s history, and now we have the opportunity to help tell its story for generations to come. I encourage Virginians to submit photographs that capture the beauty, character, and spirit of the Commonwealth for consideration in the Congressional Time Capsule as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Photographs must be submitted by Friday, June 12, 2026, to be considered. Read more here: https://t.co/MjGRKc8FQy
It was a pleasure to join @sonderling47 on a tour of @rappahannock_cc. Rappahannock Community College is doing tremendous work to expand workforce development and apprenticeship initiatives, helping prepare Virginia’s workforce to meet 21st-century needs. I want to thank Dr. Shannon Kennedy, President of Rappahannock Community College, and RCC faculty and staff for showing us the great work being done to prepare Virginians to meet the needs of tomorrow’s workforce. My thoughts are with the Chesterfield County police officers who were injured while responding to a domestic incident over the weekend. I am praying for their full and speedy recovery and am thankful for their commitment to keeping our communities safe. I also want to express my heartfelt sympathies for the loss of K9 Knight who was killed in the shooting.
Recently, I met with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations, Yvette Herrell, to discuss agricultural and forestry priorities for the First District, including conservation programs in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, workforce development initiatives, and efforts to expand rural broadband infrastructure. I look forward to continuing our partnership and advocating for the needs of Virginians.

On Memorial Day, we remember and honor those who gave everything in defense of our nation. Let us reflect on their sacrifice and recommit ourselves to preserving the freedoms they fought to protect.
It was great to join volunteers for Clean the Bay Day with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and community partners across Virginia earlier this month. Protecting the Chesapeake Bay is vital to Virginia’s environment, economy, and way of life, and I’m grateful to everyone who came out to make a difference. Together, we can ensure the Bay remains healthy and thriving for generations to come.
This week, I had the opportunity to speak with realtors in the First District about the challenges facing current and prospective homeowners. Every Virginian and American deserves the opportunity to own a home, and I am working to make that a reality.
