@HannahGardner05 @cranbury_s This is fantastic! If we want to help encourage mental health awareness and care, accessibility is one of the biggest challenges we need to face. Offering therapy appointments at CVS is brilliant.
@MegMcCaskill_SU Introducing yourself with not only your name but your pronouns is huge in making people more comfortable. A simple change like this can make such a huge difference.
@NJoyLife_Est85 Not only do all these families need to be reunited, but we need to fix the issues in our immigration system to prevent this from happening again. This never should have happened, those families were seeking asylum.
@VickyLe45545254@HuffPost Social workers do this sort of work all the time. That's actually one of the major points of the argument to defund the police. Unfortunately, it has been proven time and time again that pulling out your own weapon doesn't deescalate the situation.
@Caitlin_MSW2020 Police are not necessary for non-violent mental health crises. Social workers and EMS already receive a lot more training than the police do, realistically. They should also get training for how to handle things in a public setting with a focus on de-escalation, though.
@Caitlin_MSW2020 We will never be able to truly support victims and provide them the safety and assistance they need as long as our laws and system of governing keep letting abusers do as they will.
@Caitlin_MSW2020@AshleymSusw This is so vital. We need to adjust the way that we see addiction. Our society views addiction as a personal failing, a weakness, when in reality it is the result of trauma, genetics, and so much more. Addiction needs to be treated and helped, not vilified.
@AshleymSusw I absolutely support this. Mental health is just as vital as physical health, and we've had phys ed in school for ages. The benefits of learning to maneuver the minefield of mental health early in life will be astronomical!
@Kukitopher This is fantastic. We need to provide help for our teachers in handling these complicated and difficult topics with their students. And we all need to be ready to tackle these with anyone we are assisting.
Time for us all to stand up for the children. Over 100 anti-trans bills have been proposed in 33 states across the U.S. The kids can't vote to stop them. We need to step up and get to the heavy lifting. #susocialwork#TransRightsAreHumanRights https://t.co/I3HjG1HWb1
The convenience of this "technical error" that had "nothing to do with MMIWG2S" is pretty hard to swallow. 100s of voices were silenced on the single day dedicated to hearing them. Apologies aren't enough, Instagram. #susocialwork#mmiwg2s https://t.co/R7cuxrZZLS
So Instagram just deleted 100s of people's posts and tributes about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls -- a day after national awareness day for missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
They erased posts about women being erased. https://t.co/nsBFoor8BN
@Kukitopher Exactly. This is as bad as rainbow-colored spikes under bridges. "Look! We accept other people!" No, you just think we won't see your blatant hatred for the homeless if you make it pride-themed. We can read between the lines pretty easily.
"We must do better and we can do better"
At what? Aggressive and harmful anti-homeless architecture? Cuz is sure isn't doing better at inclusion for the disabled community. You can't hide your hate. #susocialwork https://t.co/GMy5ETVDtq
Ma'Khia Bryant. Rest in Power. We need serious reform of our foster care system. She should never have been placed in a home with so many incidents-including no less than 7 reports of missing foster children since 2018. #susocialwork

@MalcolmaMccord "Empathy is wealth, empathy is power, empathy is unity." If you can't stand behind a statement like that, there's some serious work you've gotta do.
@FolleboutLauren He literally held that man as a slave. He worked over 100 hours a week for no pay for 5 years! A 10-year stint in prison for that is unacceptable. Hardly a slap on the wrist. White privilege is alive and well.
@NWent321@cranbury_s McConnell is one of the biggest roadblocks we have to change right now. We will get past him. We aren't anywhere near done fighting.
@VickyLe45545254 It should be noted that the schools often pay the cops that work there, too. Let's have our schools pay for the support our students actually need, instead of further inflating the police budgets! (Schools can't pay our teachers, but they can pay for cops?)
Spend a year telling them they're "essential" and we need them to work in a pandemic, but also that their jobs are meant for teenagers and that they should get better jobs if they want more than $7.25/hour. What could possibly go wrong? #susocialwork https://t.co/VkzyvIiJFk
