@Ridge_Cook @WhiteCrone @lisamannmusic Its interesting. Elvis records in 54. So he didnt know of Berry. Berry records Maybellene in 55, perhaps hearing of Elvis, and gets a national hit before Elvis. Elvis goes on tour in 55 where you can here recordings of his live set doing Maybellene. So its a cross pollination

Im wondering if Phillips calls the Chess brothers in Summer of 54 saying hey I got this young white kid hopping up this blues and bluegrass stuff and the kids are goin crazy- or did he keep it a secret for as long as he could from guys like Chess

In other words, did Berry himself see the writing on the wall of this new market, and if so, by who? I doubt he heard Thats All Right Mama as it was only a regional hit. ?

Presley takes a black Blues song and turns Thats All Right Mama into Rockabilly. Its incredible. Both broke down the notion of what was considered white or black music

They were likely illiterate for one, and they thought the end times were at hand so no need to write anything down as Jesus was coming back anyway. It was decades later before anything was written down

Mix that with Hank Williams, and you get the Rockabilly stuff recorded on Sun records. Elvis gets alot of flack and blame for "stealing" black music- what they dont realize is he took it all in.

We dont have any surviving gosples until the late 3rd and 4th century besides small scraps. We have copies of copies of copies of copies of copies. The originals are lost

The gospel writers assembled pericopes, filled in some blanks to create the narrative for their audience. They did not know they were writing a Bible. There isnt any eyewitness accounts.

New generations always come along and relate to whats current. How many Led Zep fans know the origin of many of their songs?

Luke and Matthew copied from Mark and another unknown source scholars call "Q" . The apostles were poor illiterate Aramaic speaking Jews, as was Jesus. They would not be able to compose theology in Koine Greek.
