The principal of Tutaleni Primary School, Neville Visagie, is set to walk 35 kilometres from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay tomorrow (1st November) to raise funds for the school's feeding scheme.
The initiative seeks to improve the school's kitchen facilities, build a dining hall, and upgrade the current feeding menu to provide learners with nutritious meals essential for better learning and performance.
As part of the fundraising drive, the school hosted a braai event today to generate additional support for the cause.
The school accommodates approximately 1,680 learners, with more than 600 relying on $20,000 raised through contributions from parents, each donating $20 per learner.
The principals' walk aims to draw public attention to the challenges of hunger in schools and encourage greater community involvement in ensuring that every child has access to a daily meal.
