@MarkSmyth1960 @MaureenHillsJon Looks like a Redpoll to me

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@earlswoodwild That's a very light Redpoll Tony, could it be a Meally. ?

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@RoyKinchin I'm using Adobe CC which is updated regularly, it's amazing how it improves images taken 10 years ago, which I'd given up on!

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@RoyKinchin @WestMidsBirding @HerefsBirds Wow, that's some tick !

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@upstarts1979 Brilliant back then, Cuckoos and turtle doves guaranteed, Greenshanks very regular, more finches/ buntings. Some good birds since, but serious declines everywhere now 🙁

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@HarbirdRichard @pmandrews1973 @JoshT01UK @MacvieSam The left bird, brilliant for the site !

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@LaneMarsh Very sorry to hear of his passing, he has been a treasured member of South Birmingham Photographic society for several years.

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@ruth_newby @WestMidBirdClub @EcoRecording You may be right, they can vary a lot, though the supercilium is usually very pronounced in a female. You are the one that saw it, so its your call. Great to get a video anyway.

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@ladywalk_nr I remember back in the late 60s the trees in St Philips churchyard would be full of starlings pre roost it was a cacophony

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@Right_2Roam How sad, might as well be in Belmarsh HMP !

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@carlhiles Nice, I also had a female in the garden yesterday (12th) not sure if its the earliest

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@BenhamadaRuth You could be right Nicola, an older generation maybe, and the war in Ukraine has completely disapeared from the media. I blame social media - it should be turned off ! - It has caused an increase in extremist views.

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@WombourneNature Well caught, saw some off Costa del Sol years ago, couldn't get pics

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@NogginPaul @clarkemark7 Cracking pics Vince, love the back-lighting, overcast when I was there

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@MarburyBirds The middle bird in pic 3 is a Common gull, possibly the same in pic 4

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@DaveHobbyHutton @TameBirding @julianallen2009 Stunning photos Dave, never seen one out in the open before.

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

@lorrainetu22872 @CotswoldWaterPk Thank you for that Lorraine.

[Roger Dickens @RogerDickens1]

Just had to go to Whelford lakes @CotswoldWaterPk for the Purple heron, had to wait an hour, but well worth it. Sorry if you've seen too many pics of this bird. But it was one of my few trips out this year.
